If you are going to enjoy Kitchen by Mike you need to be comfortable with a few things. Queuing is one. Co-ordinating food selection and ‘bagsing’ a table is another.

The first time I ended up Kitchen by Mike was because the nearby Grounds had its usual out of control line situation so we biked it around the corner to this canteen. Since then, Kitchen by Mike has become my favourite in the neighbourhood and my preferred casual lunch spot of the two.

The selection on offer always produces some favourites and tough choices. Today, all three diners are picking the Zaatar Chicken Yoghurt with Roasted Baby Carrots, each a different side. I’ve gone for the Pear, Fennel, Raddichhio & Walnut Salad which is heavenly and like something I’d probably prepare at home.

Another dining companion has opted to have the spicy chicken with the very handsome looking Roasted Pumpkin with Pomegranate. My third dining companion is teaming his chicken with the Cabbage Salad.

I am a mad fan of Soup and Sandwich and can’t for the life of me understand why I can’t find this winning combination in more cafe and restaurants. For instance a bowl of hearty Pumpkin Soup is truly a beautiful thing but team it with a little Pulled Pork Sandwich on the side and then you’re talkin’ an all round satifying fill. Think this is a perfect (and popular) Kitchen by Mike menu option.

So get on your bikes and head on Clover’s bike lanes to Kitchen by Mike. Reward yourself with a casual but delicious fill, and pop some Jammy Dodgers in your backpack for later.
