So in record time, the Lamington at Flour and Stone has rocketed into the Sydney Foodie Hot List. Already on this list are the Banh Mi at Marrickville, the Slow Lamb Shoulder from Chiswick or the Macarons from Zumbo. Itās my mission for the day to establish whether the Panna Cotta Lamington of Flour and Stone has a place in this distinguished, tasty list.

Small hitch. Itās 930am in the morning and even I canāt justify such a sweet treat for my breakfast. Instead, Iām opting for the Boiled Eggs with Soldiers. Do not recall the last time I had a boiled egg for breakfast and must say that Iām looking forward to this childlike start to my day.

If youāre going to have a soft boiled egg for this first time in a while this is a fantastic version. Elephant egg cozy aside, these perfectly cooked googies are accompanied from delicious, buttery toast that is studded with caraways seeds. For a such a simple starter I am in breakfast heaven. Why donāt I cook these all the time?

Flour and Stone is tucked away in a quiet street in East Sydney. Word is definitely out amongst the local office worker as the steady stream of customers head in for the breakfast brew, perhaps with a sneaky snack from the beautiful array of pastries and baked goods. Iām on the beautiful Rabbit Hole Peppermint Tea this morning.

My dining companion is very familiar with the pie selection at Flour and Stone. As itās early, his usual favourite the Chicken Pie is still being prepared so he opts for the āgood-to-goā lamb option and isnāt disappointed. Tender chunks of lamb within perfect flaky pastry. Heās taking the ātastes so good ā no sauce requiredā route ā gutsy. It gets the big thumbs up.
As I head off into the sunshine following a satisfied and relaxing breakky Iāve picked up a little treat for later.. Itās a fairly long day waiting for afternoon tea and the great lamington unboxing to take place. But here we are!

The Lamington at Flour and Stone is their signature baked good and with good reason. This is certainly a cut above your standard school fete offering. The large flakes of coconut sit elegantly on the sponges chocolate casing.

Split her open and there is an incredible, chunky berry jam (almost compote in the centre).

The kicker for this though is that the lamington sponge is injected with Panna Cotta making the sponge a much richer and flavoursome tasting cake. This baby is sweet and rich and the granddaddy of the lamington world. You will need a cuppa to help it along and counter the expected sugar rush. What a winner!
There are so many items Iām still keen to try from the beautiful range of cookies including a pretty gingerbread collection.

A couple of delicious Jam Drops are a shortbread treat with a touch of lemon that is like a treat you would have hoped to find in our lunchbox at school.

The donuts are available in Jam and Custard or Lemon and Ricotta flavours which might be the toughest decision you make all day.

Flour and Stone is the perfect pitstop on the way to a picnic, a trip to the Botantical Gardens or on route to The Domain.

Everything looks delicious! Good call on the boiled eggs with soldiers. I always like mine with a dash of soy sauce, shrugs. š
